Russian Federation is the biggest country in the world. There are over 2,8 millions of rivers spread for over 12,4 million kilometers and over 3 million of lakes. The shores of our homeland are washed by 12 seas.
People always prefer to live by the water because rivers and lakes were used not only as resources of fresh water necessary for surviving, but also as convenient nature thruways which were profitable because of no costs for building, maintaining and much less infrastructure requirement (compared to roads). The majority of biggest crucial cities in Russia were built on riversides.
Considering the historical situation, design and construction issues of building facilities by the water are very important for Russia. Design of piers for mooring of large and small vessels, building of hydrotechnical facilities, design and construction of industrial and other facilities – all these tasks are only small part of huge list of works to perform for city development. In case of inhabited locality is very close to water, there is a strong necessity to consider particular qualities of terrain in building site.
That is why the appearance of design institutes who specialize on design of hydrotechnical facilities located in water area or close to it, was not a surprise. Some of these institutes, who got over Russia’s “perestroika” period and then 1990s, now have become modern engineering companies who have knowledge and many years of experience and who are able to offer complex design services to the customers.
OOO LENGIPRORECHTRANS (LENGIPRORECHTRANS, LLC) is one of the brightest representatives in this sphere.
Our Institute is the successor of Lengiprorechtrans institute established in 1931. In 1993 due to privatization, Institute was renamed to OOO Inproektrechtrans (Inproektrechtrans, LLC). In 2011 for Institute’s 80-years anniversary the former name was returned: Lengiprorechtrans.
Since the time of foundation and till early 1990s the Institute had been engaged in complex design of river and sea ports, piers, embankments including whole infrastructure: terminals, hotels, residential and industrial buildings, warehouses and other facilities throughout the Soviet Union and abroad.
Since 1990s and till now in addition to the Institute’s basic specialization, non-hydrotechnical industrial and residential design was added.
In modern period the Institute successfully performed a number of major design projects for different purposes:
- Sea trading port Ust-Luga facilities: timber and metal cargos loading, aluminum transshipment, grain, chemical fertilizers, general cargos loading;
